On 15th October, 100 cities from all around the world will gather in Milan to sign the “Milan Urban Food Policy Pac”, the covenant among Mayors on urban food policies, launched by the Mayor of the City of Milan Giuliano Pisapia and elaborated by cities in collaboration with some the most important international organizations. The Pact will be presented by the Mayors to the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on October 16th on the occasion of the World Food Day.
The signing ceremony – held in Milan at Palazzo Reale (programme) – features contributions of international experts and institutional representatives, including the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Policies Maurizio Martina, the FAO Director-General Graziano da Silva, European Commissioners Vytenis Andriukaitis (health and food safety) and Neven Mimica (international cooperation and development).
