The Italian Minister of Health, Beatrice Lorenzin, opened today in Beijing a seminar on cooperation in the health sector and health services between Italy and China

The Italian Minister of Health, Beatrice Lorenzin, opened today in Beijing a seminar on cooperation in the health sector and health services between Italy and China. One of the key topics of the event was “how to organize and provide accessible, equal, effective and sustainable health services, opened and flexible enough to adapt to innovations arising from research and development”, so the Hon. Minister in her speech.

Bilateral cooperation between Italy and China in the health sector “aims to combine the best elements of our respective traditions, in medical and health behaviors, with research and innovation” stressed the Minister Lorenzin.

After the opening speeches four documents were signed. Emilia Romagna region signed a joint statement with the Centre for the Development of Human Resources in Health Sector of the Commission for Health and Family Planning. The Italian Chamber of Commerce in China signed with the Beijing International Weirenweiye Medicine Research Center a framework agreement for training and management of medical staff, and, with the National Centre for cooperation and exchanges in the health sector of the Commission of Health and Family Planning, a collaboration agreement for projects aimed at preventing liver cancer. Both agreements signed by the Chamber of Commerce will be implemented by the Bracco Sine Pharmaceutical Corp. Ltd.
Finally, a Memorandum of Understanding for the supply of computer systems for hospitals was signed by Dedalus SPA-Healthcare Systems Group and the Autonomous County of Qiongzhong.

The Italian health system, and the health care reform in China, the relationship between central and regional goverments in the Italian national system and the training of physicians are just some of the topics discussed at the seminar, attended by over a 100 Italian and Chinese operators.

The Italian health care system ranks first in Europe and is among the most efficient in the world. The seminar presented with key facts and figures that Italy has a great tradition and history but is also a leader in innovation, something that the Chinese are increasingly looking for in their Italian partners.
