Alberto Angela, journalist, writer and documentary filmmaker, will present tomorrow, January 28th 2016, at 7PM, at the Auditorium of the Italian Cultural Institute in Beijing, “Three Days of Pompeii: 23-25 ​​October 79 AD: hour by hour the greatest tragedy of antique Rome “, his new book about the history of one of the world’s most prestigious archaeological sites.
The book will be published in Chinese next autumn and part of the proceeds will finance the restoration of Adone Ferito’s fresco at the homonymous Pompeian Domus.
During the event, jointly organized by the Italian Institute of Culture and the Italian Embassy in Beijing, ​​the author will explain the new research and technologies that have enabled scholars engaged in the restoration of the UNESCO archeological site to respond to the many questions on the volcanic eruption that destroyed the city. A video-documentary, subtitled in Chinese, will be screened during the event. It traces the life of ancient Pompeii and what happened during the three days that crystallized forever the city. The public will also be able to interact with the author on his experience as a paleontologist and researcher.
The event, free admission, will be introduced by the Italian Ambassador, Ettore Sequi, and moderated by the Director of the Institute of Culture, Stefania Stafutti.
