Book presentation by Alberto Angela “The three Days of Pompeii”

"The three Days of Pompeii: 23 to 25 October 79 AD: hour by hour the greatest tragedy of antiquity" is the title of the new book by Alberto Angela, journalist, writer and Italian filmmaker, which was presented on January 28th at the Italian Institute of culture.
During the event, jointly organized by the Institute of Culture and the Italian Embassy in Beijing, the author described the new research and technologies that have allowed scholars engaged in the restoration of the UNESCO site to respond to the many questions still unanswered about the eruption of the volcano that destroyed the city. The book "Three Days of Pompeii" will be published next autumn in China and part of the proceeds will be donated to finance the restoration of the Adone Ferito fresco in the homonymous Pompeian Domus .
The presentation was enriched by the screening of a long video documentary, subtitled in Chinese, which traced the life of ancient Pompeii, and what happened in the three days that crystallized it forever.
" Alberto Angela’s commitment in the dissemination of historical and scientific knowledge is a real example of professionalism" said the Italian Ambassador in China, Ettore Sequi, introducing the event. "The publication of the book in Chinese" - continued the Ambassador - "comes at a time when Italy and China are working together to achieve an ambitious project involving some of their UNESCO’s sites, starting from Pompeii and Xi'an."
